The New York City penthouse atop the world’s first art deco skyscraper is this week’s priciest new listing on realtor.com®, asking $59 million.

One of New York’s largest private residences, according to the listing, the penthouse is a “palace in the sky.” It spans the top two floors of the building and measures over 14,500 square feet. Vickey Barron of Corcoran Group holds the listing.

The living room is “longer than an NBA basketball court,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Nearly 100 feet long and 30 feet wide with a 22-foot-high ceiling, the room is “larger than the average American home.”

Naturally, there are views for days, thanks to floor-to-ceiling arched windows that look out to the city skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the Hudson River.

The listing claims the living room is one of New York City’s largest, and boasts one of the longest continuous art walls in any private home. So bring a few oil paintings. You’ll need them to fill the blank space.

Speaking of blank space, about 6,000 square feet can be configured to whatever a buyer desires. The space can accommodate layouts ranging from one to seven bedrooms, along with custom lighting, home automation, even an internal elevator.

The luxe kitchen includes a butler’s pantry, Calacatta gold marble counters, custom oak cabinets, and Gaggenau appliances, including dual refrigerators, freezers, microwave, dual ovens, cooking range, and dual dishwashers. The kitchen opens to a dining area, a pass-through wine room, and a lounge with wet bar with double-sided gas fireplace.

Constructed in 1927 by architect Ralph Walker, the landmark building in lower Manhattan, now known as One Hundred Barclay, has been restored to its former glory. There’s the jaw-dropping Mayan-inspired art deco lobby, graced with a vaulted ceiling and hand-painted overhead murals. Intricate bronze detailing surrounds the elevators.

Once the New York Telephone Building, the historic structure has been converted into 157 luxury condo units. The developer added two swimming pools, a playroom, fitness center with steam room and sauna, lounge and bar, wine storage and tasting room, bicycle and private storage, and four outdoor terraces.

The beautiful Barclay was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The lower Manhattan locale is used frequently as a location for filming movies and TV shows. Famous residents have included Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Connelly, and “Million Dollar Listing” star Fredrik Eklund.
