Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith has cut the asking price on his 10,000-square-foot mansion in Tampa, FL, yet again—to $3.7 million. That’s $1.1 million less than its initial list price in October.
Built in 2002, the six-bedroom, eight-bath home sits on nearly 13 acres in Tampa Palms, a planned community including the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club. It’s located about 30 minutes northeast of Raymond James Stadium.
Smith bought the mansion for $3.8 million in 2014, after signing a five-year, $25 million contract to serve as the Buccaneers’ head coach. The team struggled under Smith’s leadership, and he was fired in 2016.

The Mediterranean-style house has a circular driveway and porte-cochère. It features arched windows and columns throughout. Arched double doors open to a foyer with travertine flooring and a grand staircase.
Just off the foyer is Smith’s office, which has French doors and a built-in bookcase. Listing photos show football helmets from his coaching stints with the Bucs and at the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee.

Smith currently coaches at the University of Illinois, where he signed a six-year, $21 million contract after he was released by the Bucs in 2016.
He’s had mixed success with real estate. In 2004, after he was hired by the Chicago Bears, Smith bought a five-bedroom home outside Chicago for $1.62 million. He listed it for $2 million in 2014, and it eventually sold for $1.45 million in 2015.
