Big Little Houses: 6 Stunning Beach Homes We’d Love to See on Season 2 of ‘Big Little Lies’

HBO

It’s the truth: The hit HBO series “Big Little Lies” has officially been renewed for another season. The award-winning show, starring  Reese Witherspoon, Nicole KidmanLaura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz, was based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name.

While the book was set in Australia, the screen version takes place in the elite coastal town of Monterey, CA. The glorious seascapes and massive luxury homes provide the backdrop for a gripping drama centered around moms, a murder mystery, and a lot of mayhem.

Since the first season covered everything that was in the book, we can’t be sure what’s in store for Season 2. But we can be pretty sure the show will introduce some changes for our leading women, a few new characters, lots more intrigue—and, of course, magnificent oceanside mansions to lust after.

We took the liberty of playing location scout to the show’s second season, selecting some of the most jaw-dropping beach houses on the market that could be the perfect setting for our cast of dynamic women. Tune in, and get ready to have some serious house envy.

3180 Cortez Rd Pebble Beach CA

Price: $12,950,000
Big little features: Built in 2004, the posh property offers a serene getaway in the heart of Pebble Beach. The lavish 9,500-square-foot home sits on 2 acres of manicured grounds and forest. With indoor and outdoor living areas, five bedrooms, a light and airy kitchen, and family room with cozy fireplace and “breathtaking” views, this home will have the women of “Big Little Lies” fighting to move in.

243 Highway 1, Carmel CA

Price: $11,900,000
Big little features: Set in one of the most glorious spots in the world, this stunning home—designed to look like a butterfly taking flight—is simply magnificent.

Dubbed “Serenity,” the architectural marvel was 10 years in the making. It caught our attention this summer, with its walls of glass showcasing ocean views from almost every room.

But buyers are clearly hesitant on the price, given that the home has only three bedrooms and measures not even 3,000 square feet. It’s been on the market for almost six months, so it’s primed to be rented out for the cast of “Big Little Lies.” You heard it here first!

3381 Laureles Ln, Pebble Beach CA

Price: $11,795,000
Big little features: Before you call dibs on the fist two estates, behold this 8,195-square-foot home that overlooks the ocean, the city of Carmel, and even Big Sur.

Graced with a massive front door, the home is on a grand scale. The living room features a massive stone fireplace and wall of windows. The kitchen and breakfast room open to a back patio and outdoor barbecue area. One of the four bedrooms has been converted into a separate guest apartment. The place also offers a finished basement, a wine cellar that holds 596 bottles, a media room, and an elevator.

2848 Santa Lucia Ave, Carmel CA

Price: $6,995,000
Big little features: Season 1 left us with a bit of a cliffhanger regarding Madeline’s (Witherspoon) relationship with her husband. If our sassy protagonist needs a new pad in Season 2, we think this Swiss-style cottage just screams her name.

Recently remodeled, the “masterfully built” ocean-view home sits on a knoll just blocks away from beautiful beaches and an adorable downtown. The wood-beamed ceiling, great room, and open kitchen open out to a large deck. We can totally see Madeline taking some time for herself on the entry patio with Carmel stone fireplace and water fountain, or drinking wine with her girlfriends on the lower patio with a fire pit.

7410 Alturas Ct, Monterey CA

Price: $3,850,000
Big little features: This picturesque 2-acre property features stunning views. The house itself has a 20-foot foyer, a handcrafted front door that opens to the living room with “dramatic” windows, and hand-distressed beam ceilings. Four bedrooms include two master suites.

The “state of the art”  kitchen opens to a butler’s pantry and breakfast rotunda, which leads to the family room. If Bonnie (Kravitz) is in the market for a new start (and a new home), we can see her quickly making this place her own, hosting friends for dinner and doing her sun salutations on the patio overlooking the water.
