It’s a rare occurrence when someone can pay $10 million for a property and feel like they’re getting it for a song. But such is the case with the Malibu beach house of classic crooners Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme.

Although the couple doubled the size of the post-and-beam house and remodeled it around the turn of the century, developers are eyeing the Broad Beach property for a “rich man’s flip,” according to listing agent Leonard Rabinowitz.

The agent says the property is akin to another residence that once belonged to famed luxury Realtor® Fred Sands. That one was purchased for $12.25 million, completely remodeled and expanded—it’s now back on the market for $22 million.

There’s nothing wrong with the house as is. It has four bedrooms and four baths spread over 4,282 square feet of living space. However, the home’s biggest selling point is its 40 feet of exclusive Broad Beach frontage.

The beach is a celebrity magnet: Actors Dustin Hoffman, Frank Sinatra, and Jack Lemmon spent time there. Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy lived and loved there, as did Ali MacGraw and Steve McQueen.

“It’s private and beautiful,” says Rabinowitz. “That’s why so many celebrities have chosen to live there.”

The home’s other assets include a master bedroom with walk-in closet, a chef’s kitchen, and a pass-through bar that leads to a large patio with direct beach access. Skylights and soaring ceilings also add to the home’s appeal.

Lawrence and Gorme were the musical “it” couple in the 1950s and ’60s. They sang together from their wedding in 1957 until Gorme’s death in 2013, just a few weeks before her 85th birthday. Their biggest hits include “This Could Be the Start of Something (Big)” and “We Got Us.”
