The time is now for a University of Florida fan who wants to chomp on a bit of Gators history.
That’s because former men’s basketball coach Billy Donovan—who was responsible for the school’s only titles on the hardwood—is letting go of his home in Gainesville, FL. Donovan, who now roams the sideline for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, has listed the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom property for $1.8 million.
Built in 2002, the property comes in two parts. The main residence is 6,400 square feet; adjacent to that is an additional 1,200 square feet of flexible space, an in-law suite, and storage.
The home features wood flooring, vaulted ceilings, coffered detailing in the office, and granite countertops in the kitchen. There are large living areas, traditional dining rooms, and entertainment spaces. The backyard has a pool with sun shelf, outdoor living room, and kitchen. The in-law unit also comes with a kitchen.

Donovan is a Gainesville legend. After taking over the Gators program in 1996, he built the team into a national powerhouse, winning the school’s first-ever NCAA championship in 2005 and repeating as champs in 2006.
Donovan flirted with the NBA’s Orlando Magic in 2007 before backing out of a head coaching job and agreeing not to accept another NBA job for five years. In 2015, Donovan finally left the Gators to coach the Thunder, but not before he became the youngest NCAA basketball coach to reach 500 wins.
In his first year with the team, Donovan led the Thunder to a 55–27 record and took the team within a win of reaching the city’s second NBA Finals. Donovan is currently in the second year of a five-year contract worth a reported $30 million.
