Are giraffes farm animals? Generally, no, but apparently yes in Alamo, CA.

That’s because Brandon Belt, first baseman for the San Francisco Giants, whose nickname is “the Baby Giraffe,” closed a deal on a 5,477-square-foot home for $3.45 million in Alamo in late January.

“It’s a modern farmhouse,” says Michelle Robichard, the listing agent. “It’s very in style to have transitional design like that. I’d call it a modern farmhouse.”

Belt is in some good neighborhood company—sharing the pastures are fellow celebs like Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, and former Safeway president and CEO Steven Burd.

And homes like these in Alamo don’t come cheap: The median listing price for homes in the area is $1.8 million, and the median closing price in Alamo is $1.6 million. It’s definitely home run territory for Bay Area VIPs (and MVPs) and their agents. Robichard says the west side of Alamo—where Belt is now settled—is “highly coveted.”

Belt’s five-bedroom, five-bath home sits on an acre-lot in a gated community. It has a wrap-around porch and large backyard.

Inside, the home features dark wood floors. Tucked away upstairs are a bonus room and a wine closet.

Baby giraffes aren’t modern farm animals, but after signing a six-year, $79 million contract last spring, Belt probably doesn’t mind living in a farmhouse—it probably beats living in a zoo.
