The Sad Ballad of Reba McEntire’s Former Home Might End on a High Note

Not all country songs have sad endings. After sitting forlorn on the market in Tennessee, the one-time home of legend Reba McEntire looks like it won’t sit empty much longer.

Fans may soon get a chance to make their own ballad-worthy memories in McEntire’s former home, nicknamed “Starstruck Farm.” A would-be buyer just got the green light to turn the 12,816-square-foot, seven-bed, seven-bath residence, and about 13 acres of the estate in Lebanon, TN, into an events venue with a bed-and-breakfast component, according to The Tennessean. The local zoning and appeals board approved the proposal on Friday.

The swanky home includes an eight-car garage, barn, guest apartment, pool house, and tennis court. And did we mention the equestrian center with both indoor and outdoor riding arenas?

McEntire lived in the home with her husband and manager, Narvel Blackstock, until they split in late 2015. The home was initially listed for $7.9 million, but no one piped up with an offer. It was finally scooped up by developer Paul Burch for just $5 million in July 2017. He saw an opportunity and quickly subdivided the property.

Burch plans to put up 15 homes on about 17 acres of the 83-acre estate. He put the parcel of land, including McEntire’s previous home, on the market for $2.95 million in September.

The unnamed potential buyer of the home will have to be respectful of the neighbors if the sale goes through. Wilson County’s board of zoning appeals stipulated that there can’t be more than 500 people on the site at any one time, and events must be over by 11 p.m. There is also a maximum of just 15 overnight guests allowed at the B&B.

“It sounds like a great use of the property,” says local real estate agent Lisa Peebles of Nashville Luxury Estates. There are plenty of multimillion-dollar mansions with all sorts of amenities in the Nashville area, she says, but the fact that McEntire once lived there gives it extra cachet.

“People will go and want to stay just because it’s Reba’s former residence and she’s country music royalty,” Peebles says. “That will be a big draw.”
