Mark Emmert, National Collegiate Athletic Association president, is ready to hand off his Sonoma home. The wine country estate recently landed on the market for $3.2 million. The property was purchased in 2015 for $2,335,000, according to property records.
If Emmert and his wife, DeLaine Emmert, sell for anywhere close to the ask, they’ll pocket a nifty profit from the transaction.
The luxury build, located in the posh Armstrong Estates development, is in walking distance of the restaurants and shops of historic Sonoma Plaza. According to the listing description, the Craftsman has been “impeccably built and incredibly maintained.”

Situated on a lushly landscaped half-acre lot, the 4,125-square-foot layout includes four beds and 4.5 baths, with each bedroom an ensuite.
Design elements feature Australian Rose River gumwood flooring and a wraparound deck, with plenty of room for seating and outdoor dining. The grassy yard is ready for a pool, should the next owner choose to put one in.
Trademark elements of the Craftsman style include wainscoting, a dining room with a built-in buffet, a living room with a fireplace and mantle, a wood-paneled office, and a huge eat-in kitchen.
The master bedroom is large enough for a sitting area and features another fireplace, and the spalike bath includes a stand-alone tub.
Emmert, who is 65, has headed the NCAA since 2010, and has weathered a number of major controversies during his time at the head of college athletics. Before his lucrative tenure with the organization, overseeing unpaid student athletes, Emmert served as president of the University of Washington, his alma mater.
