Democratic mastermind David Axelrod—the chief strategist of Barack Obama‘s presidential campaigns—has strategized his way into a new apartment in Chicago.
The condo in a luxe high-rise was initially listed in March for $1.73 million, according to property records. The price was reduced to $1.65 million in May. Axelrod and his wife, Susan, picked it up for $1,645,000 in early October.
The 3,000-square-foot corner unit has three bedrooms and three baths. It features floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing views of Grant Park, the city skyline, and Lake Michigan.

The interior features contemporary finishes in the living room and dining room, including hardwood flooring and custom window treatments. The chef’s kitchen is equipped with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, white lacquer cabinets, marble countertops, and a breakfast bar. The kitchen opens to a family room.
The master suite includes two walk-in closets and a luxe bath with dual vanities. The unit also boasts a private balcony with spectacular views.
Completed in 2008, the building features luxury amenities, including 24/7 door staff, a fitness center, indoor pool, sun deck, and theater. Its South Loop location is near Grant Park, the museum campus, and the lakefront.
In September, Axelrod and his wife listed their three-bedroom apartment in Water Tower Place for $3.25 million. They had purchased the apartment in 2012 for $1.7 million, according to the Chicago Tribune, and then renovated the space.
Axelrod, who served as senior adviser to President Obama, currently heads the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics and is a pundit for CNN.
