Toward the tail end of the Major League Baseball season, Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio scooped up an oceanfront lot in Malibu, CA, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal. In mid-September, he paid $6.6 million for the 0.27-acre parcel.
It looks like building a home on the lot will be Attanasio’s next big play. According to the city’s website, an application to develop a 7,237-square-foot, single-family residence was approved by the planning commission in August 2016. The application included plans for a pool and spa, two-car garage, and roof deck.
What makes this lot on Broad Beach in West Malibu so absolutely appealing is the slope.
“You get these great views down the coast, which isn’t typical when it’s on flat land,” says Sandro Dazzan, a listing agent with Dazzan Estates who currently has a luxe six-bedroom property three doors down listed for $19.9 million.

“Broad Beach is very desirable because it’s a beach enclave not on Malibu Road,” says Dazzan, referring to the noisier, more congested part of Malibu that entertains tourists eager to glimpse a slice of this beach paradise.
“It’s kind of like the last frontier, the least developed center of Malibu,” says Dazzan. “I’m sure (Attanasio) will be building it out.”
This area of Malibu used to require long drives to get groceries or do other errands, but recent development has changed all that, with Vintage Grocers and Trancas Canyon Shopping Center nearby.
“It’s a lot easier now than in previous years,” says Dazzan. And it’s a lot lovelier than Wisconsin in the winter.
