We love it when sports legends team up on real estate deals. So imagine how tickled we are to learn that Hall of Fame golfer Fred Couples has sold his mansion in La Quinta, CA, to basketball Hall of Famer Jerry West, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home, located off the links of the Madison Club, measures 5,000 square feet and includes a chef’s kitchen with an enormous island, a master bedroom with a fireplace and patio, an outdoor kitchen, and pool with spa.
Couples bought the house in 2009 for just a little over $3 million. He initially put it on the market in 2011 for $4.2 million, then dropped the price to $3.95 million in February 2016. The Times reported a sales price of $2.8 million, but records show a deal closed on Feb. 27 for $3.2 million.

Couples, 57, was formerly the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer and now plays on the PGA seniors tour. In January, he placed second in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship; the next month he won the Chubb Classic in Naples, FL.
West, 78, spent his entire playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers and played on 14 All-Star teams. He moved to the front office and became a championship-winning exec with the Lakers. He’s currently with the Golden State Warriors as a special adviser and executive board member.
