$68M Beverly Hills Estate Formerly Owned by Cher Is Most Expensive New Listing

Do you believe? An estate in Beverly Hills, CA, formerly owned by Cher has landed back on the market. Priced at $68 million, it is the most expensive new home this week on realtor.com®.

Here’s hoping the sequel fares better than the original. This property hit the market in 2016 for $85 million, topping our most expensive home list at the time. The gated estate off Benedict Canyon is just minutes by car from the tony shops of Rodeo Drive. It has 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms and sits on 13.5 acres.

The property comes with a Moroccan-style, 7,000-square-foot guesthouse with soaring arched windows and views of the “lavishly” landscaped grounds. There’s also a pool and tennis court with cabana. This “ultimate equestrian environment” includes five deluxe stables, a pair of white-graveled riding rings, and miles of trails.

The 20,000-square-foot main house is unfinished, however. According to Variety, shopping center developer Raul Walters and his wife, Vicki, purchased the place in the late ’90s for $6.4 million. They added adjacent lots and began building a bigger main house than the structure that existed when Cher owned the property. Walters died in 2009; he was 68.

Cher’s retreat was described as “a sumptuously bedazzled Egyptian-themed mansion of about 10,000 square feet.” In 2016 we noted that the Oscar winner had sold the mansion to comedian Eddie Murphy in 1988 for $5.9 million, who later sold it for only $4 million in 1995.

The interior of the home remains a mystery, as the current listing photos show only exterior shots.

Perhaps the Cher, one of the best-selling artists of all time, might like to make another grand comeback.
