Univision newscaster María Elena Salinas—co-anchor of the “Noticiero Univision” evening broadcast on the Spanish-American TV channel—is making news of her own by putting her historic Miami-area mansion on the market.

Listed by Ray De Leon and Gabriela Dájer of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty for $3.45 million, the opulent Coral Gables home was built in 1937. Designed by Phineas Paist—who was also behind the  Coral Gables City Hall and Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, both in Miami—the spacious residence spans just over 4,000 feet.

The home features five bedrooms and five baths, as well as historical details like the original fireplace, built-ins, exposed beams, arched doorways, and tiled flooring, all in pristine condition.

“María Elena raised her beautiful two daughters and created many wonderful memories in this home throughout the last 20 years,” says De Leon. “Her daughters are off to college, and she is ready for a new chapter in her life.”

“The building bears elements of a European classical style, a break from the city’s Mediterranean architecture of the 1920s,” says Dájer, “and is noteworthy for its flat tile roof and slightly textured stucco—of which Paist was a strong proponent.”

That it’s on a corner lot is impressive, but so is the fact that it resides on the city’s longest, most prominent thoroughfare. It’s sure to appeal to an avid entertainer given the spacious guest quarters, covered terrace, and chef’s kitchen. Other pampering perks include a soaking tub in one of the bathrooms as well as an outdoor pool.

“The buyer for this home is someone who understands and appreciates the architectural style and design of historic homes. The home has been beautifully updated while still preserving many of the original details,” says De Leon. “Because of its lot size, gardens, and layout, it would also be a great home for a family.”
