Stop Panicking! We Found 7 Homes With Panic Rooms Priced Under $500K

panic rooms on a budget

It’s a scary time to be an American—and we’re not talking about the impending arrival of Halloween and its freaky costumes. (Although that sexy Ken Bone costume does give us a different kind of fright.)

With fear feeling like the predominant emotion nowadays (thanks loads, presidential race 2016!), it’s no wonder panic rooms are in vogue. A couple of months ago, the New York Post called them the “hottest new trend for the .01 percent.”

But worry doesn’t dissipate based on your bank account. For the other 99.9% of us huddled in horror, we’ve found homes currently for sale equipped with panic rooms and listed for under half a million bucks.

These places have hideouts for various reasons. Avoiding wild weather, for example. Or dealing with natural disasters. Or just maybe having a special place to wait out the imminent collapse of modern civilization as we know it. Whatever your panic point might be, we’ve got you covered!

And as a disclaimer, because these hideouts are “secret” by nature, photos of panic rooms aren’t always easy to spot. You’ll have to take our frightened word for it and see if these homes inspire you to seal yourself off from the outside world.
