To kick off the new year, real estate gawkers sought out one of the priciest and best known mansions in the world. Their curiosity (and clicks!) caused the Spelling Manor to shoot to the top of the most popular listings this week on realtor.com®.
Honestly, the $200 million megamansion was featured in a ton of real estate roundups looking back at 2017. Though it’s been on the market since November 2016, it still inspires widespread fascination—if not actual buyers. It sat on the market for the entirety of 2017, lording over all other properties, waiting in vain for an ultrahigh net worth buyer.
The regal residence was built by Hollywood royalty Aaron and Candy Spelling, who created the sprawling 56,000-square-foot spread on almost 5 acres. It was purchased in 2011 for $85 million by Formula One heiress Petra Stunt, who then “spared no expense” on a top-to-bottom renovation.
Headed back to down to Earth from a price perspective, this week’s runner-up is a New Orleans charmer for $915,000. It’s a “family-friendly” home, says listing agent Evelyn Randle. The five-bedroom residence from 1918 has been restored with original details kept intact.
A celebrity home also caught the attention of the web. Kyle Richards‘ posh palace in Bel Air hit the market a month ago for close to $7 million. Fans of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” are familiar with the estate, and Richards was recently in the news after her new place in Encino, CA, was the target of a $1 million burglary.
We promise not to steal anything but your time as you scroll through the full list of this week’s most popular homes.
