In 2013, then 87-year-old Playboy founder Hugh Hefner paid $5 million for a sleek, modern home in the Hollywood Hills for his 27-year-old wife, Crystal Hefner. Although they were living together at the Playboy mansion, in Los Angeles, Hef wanted to ensure that she would be taken care of after he’s gone.
Lo and behold, she was taken care of—quite nicely, as it turns out. According to TMZ, when Hef died in September 2017, he left his third wife a nest egg of $5 million and the Hollywood Hills house. And the prenuptial agreement she’d signed couldn’t take the house or the fortune away from her.
But the right buyer could. Crystal recently put the four-bedroom, 4.5-bath, 5,917-square-foot home on the market for $7.2 million.
Located just east of the Bird Streets neighborhood, the modern home has gorgeous views, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows in most rooms.
Built in 2011, the home features fine finishes throughout. There are floors of white oak, Brazilian walnut, limestone, and Italian tile; walls of Jerusalem stone, Italian walnut, copper, and glass; doors of mahogany, rift-cut white oak, tempered glass, and stainless steel.

We’re not sure if Crystal ever used the designer kitchen, but if she did, she’d be wearing an apron while surrounded by finishes by Bontempi, dual Miele ovens, a Miele induction stove, Italian faucets by New Form, and a unique stainless-steel backsplash.

Crystal, who wed Hef in 2012, was Playmate of the Month in December 2009. She also appeared in the reality TV show “The Girls Next Door” on E!
“I loved him so much,” she told People after Hef’s death. “I am so grateful. He gave me life. He gave me direction. He taught me kindness. I will feel eternally grateful to have been by his side, holding his hand, and telling him how much I love him.”
