This week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com® is a $44 million property in Palm Beach, FL. Built in 2006, this megamansion has an intriguing backstory.
The owner, developer Robert Matthews, made headlines recently after almost losing the home to foreclosure and other legal troubles. Now the mansion has tiptoed onto the market with a large price tag, but without much detail beyond a single beautiful exterior shot.
According to property records, Matthews bought the place in 2006 for $14.95 million and completely rebuilt it.
Sitting on an acre lot on a cul-de-sac, the 16,000-square-foot megamansion has six “themed” bedrooms, eight baths, and two half-baths. There are also a dining room, eat-in kitchen, library, media room, and pantry. The waterfront property boasts 185 feet of shoreline.
The spread also includes a heated pool, cabana, and spa, along with lush landscaping including palm trees. The Mediterranean-style mansion, which was built by Annunziata Building and General Contracting, was featured in Florida Design magazine.
Another perk of living in this place? Style guru Tommy Hilfiger will be your neighbor. The fashion designer and his wife, Dee Ocleppo, own the place next door, according to the Real Deal.
Lawrence Moens holds the listing.
