Will This Lake Geneva Mansion Be Wisconsin’s Most Expensive House Sale—Ever?

realtor.com

The tiny town of Lake Geneva (pop. 7,821), an hour north of Chicago and just over the Wisconsin line, is often dubbed “the Newport of the Midwest.” Stately homes linked to the Wrigleys, the Searses, and other prominent Midwestern families encircle the lake’s shoreline.

And now, this Colonial-style property listed for $14.5 million could—if sold at asking—become the Badger State’s most expensive home sale in history.

Earlier this year, according to a local news story, a nearby home (the Hillcroft Mansion, on the Wrigley Estate) sold for $11.5 million  and shattered the state’s previous record.

However, what’s different about this property is that it’s nearly brand new. While some of the mansions on Lake Geneva date to the early 1900s, this one was built in 2009.

Whoever snags this beautiful 13-bedroom, 16-bath manse will be treated to luxuries such as 210 feet of private shoreline, an elevator, and a gorgeous staircase. Entertaining at home will be a breeze in the gourmet chef-grade kitchen that flaunts a white-marble island and backsplash, plus a Wolf gas range.

The primary kitchen opens to the living room, and the veranda could easily host a small gathering. A full bar on the lower level offers easy refreshment for watching sporting events on television. The second kitchen is ideal for catering staff.

White walls and ceilings throughout—complemented by crown molding and beadboard ceilings—are reminders that the beach lifestyle is right outside this home’s back door. The home’s private pier can accommodate multiple boats. Light fixtures are minimalist and modern, featuring custom ironwork.

There’s also a four-car garage—perfect for storing sports cars and luxury vehicles—and because the home is set on 3.5 acres, privacy is abundant. But even though it’s secluded, it’s only a short walk to downtown Lake Geneva’s wine bars, dining, and boutique shops.

The ability to relax at this lakefront estate was carefully considered during the construction. The master suite features a free-standing soaking tub and a walk-in, white-marble shower that includes a built-in bench. And the outdoor pool—also designed for entertaining, with an outdoor fireplace and built-in stainless-steel grill—is just a short walk up from the lake. All we’re waiting for is a buyer to dive in and make Wisconsin’s largest splash. It’s listed with Anne DuBray of Coldwell Banker.
