Rand Paul Needs New Neighbors! Here Are 5 Homes for Sale in His Posh Community

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul made headlines earlier this month when—while mowing his lawn at his Bowling Green, KY, home—he was allegedly assaulted by his next-door neighbor Rene Boucher.

Reports have attempted to ascribe a larger political motive to the backyard blindside, but as it turns out, the dispute could actually be extremely local. Boucher was apparently annoyed that Paul’s backyard was “spoiling his lakeside views and ‘devaluing’ his home,” according to the Daily Mail.

The second-term Republican senator from Kentucky, 2016 presidential candidate, and still-practicing ophthalmologist is recovering from his injuries, which included five broken ribs and bruises to his lungs. Boucher, 59, was charged with fourth-degree assault.

Putting aside party affiliation, who among us hasn’t secretly harbored ill will toward a neighbor? In the case of the posh gated community of Rivergreen, Boucher may also have been stewing about his neighbor making his home harder to sell.

In fact, Boucher’s property has been on and off the market for nearly a decade. It initially went up for sale in 2008 for $859,900, and then sat on the market as recently as 2014 for $849,000 with no takers.

The 54-year-old Paul has lived in the upscale community for years and has “long stood out,” the New York Times notes: “The senator grows pumpkins on his property, composts and has shown little interest for neighborhood regulations.” Still, the two men have managed to live side by side for 17 years. At one point, Paul and Boucher, an anesthesiologist, even worked at the same hospital.

We’re not taking sides, but we did take a closer look at the gated enclave and it turns out there are actually five homes available. If you’re willing to take a chance on this area, you’ll be rewarded with a choice of huge homes on large lots with a low cost per square foot.

Could one senator’s overgrown yard account for these five homes lingering on the market for months? Check them out and render your own verdict…
