Dismayed About Impending Doomsday? 7 Survival Shelters on the Market

Dismayed About Impending Doomsday? 7 Survival Shelters on the Market

Whether deep underground or simply secreted far from prying eyes, shelters and bunkers aren’t blessed with gorgeous views or fancy amenities. These secure spaces are designed first and foremost for human survival—and they’re generally hidden until circumstances dictate their exposure.

For anyone who’s been watching the news lately and worrying themselves sick about potentially deadly escalations with foreign powers, a little panic prep wouldn’t hurt. We’re here to help with that! We’ve found bunkers, caves, and fallout shelters for sale.

It all harks back to the Cold War of the 1950s, when students learned to duck and cover under their desks during bomb tests. Fallout shelters were built to last (of course!), and some ’50s-era relics are still around. But there are many others of more recent construction.

And here’s the thing: Concrete underground shelters can work for more than nuclear apocalypse. They’re good for escaping hurricanes and other natural disasters as well. They also serve as very secure storage. You could have a wine collection or store food for the winter.

Unfortunately, they’re not the most photogenic of places, and one listing even noted, “Hidden underground bunker … will be shown only to person in contract.”

Before you burrow under your desk, scroll down to see seven survivalist shelters…
