Toronto Blue Jays catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has put his 6,048-square-foot mansion in Wellington, FL, on the market for $4.5 million. And this isn’t just any luxe estate; his palatial pad has some unbelievably fun features—such as a home movie theater, a pool with a waterfall, a shared private airstrip, and even a batting cage inside an airplane hangar.

Saltalamacchia (nicknamed “Salty” by his teammates) scooped up the house in 2013, less than a month before helping his then-Boston Red Sox win the World Series. He bought it for $2.65 million—so he’ll turn a profit of nearly $2 million if the house closes for full asking price.

The Tuscan-style home was built in 2003 on a 1.09-acre lot at the Aero Club, a planned community of 248 homesites centered around a shared, 4,000-foot-long private airstrip. Saltalamacchia’s home has its own airplane hangar, which opens right onto the north end of the airstrip.

Saltalamacchia, 32, converted the hangar into the ultimate home gym, adding a batting cage with artificial turf, professional weightlifting equipment, a leather couch and seating area, and framed baseball jerseys on the walls.

Inside, the home is opulent, with tall ceilings and multiple entertaining areas. The home’s kitchen includes a breakfast bar and island, custom cabinetry, gas range, and a built-in workstation.

The master bedroom has a seating area and large windows overlooking the meticulously manicured backyard. A wet bar separates the master bedroom from the master bath, which is perfectly symmetrical: It has separate toilets and sinks, a large tub in the center of the room, and a separate dual-head shower.

Framed memorabilia is up all over the house. In his office, Saltalamacchia hung a copy of the Nov. 4, 2013, issue of Sports Illustrated, showing him tagging Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig at home plate in Game 3 of the World Series (that play was ultimately ruled obstruction at third plate, allowing St. Louis to pull ahead in the series). A replica World Series trophy sits in its own alcove in Saltalamacchia’s game room.

Elsewhere, there’s a home theater with its own starry ceiling, an enclosed patio with its own kitchen and fireplace, walk-in wine cellar, and a fenced-in pool with waterfall.

Saltalamacchia was drafted in 2003 and made his big-league debut in 2007. He played for the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers before signing a minor league contract with the Blue Jays.

Off the field, he’s known for holding the record for the longest last name in Major League Baseball’s history, and for marrying a teacher from his former high school. The pair started dating a year after he graduated in 2003, and were married in 2005 when he was 20, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported at the time.
