Jane Fonda Tells You Exactly Why You Should Buy Her Mansion

We can’t recall any A-list celebs offering a personal tour of a beloved house they’re about to sell. However, two-time Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda has broken with tradition as she attempts to sell her modern, 7,100-square-foot Trousdale Estates home for $13 million.

Of course, the 79-year-old actress is able to deliver a great performance, but Fonda is a picture of sincerity (and the Fountain of Youth) when she talks about how much she and her partner, record producer Richard Perry, have enjoyed the four-bedroom, seven-bath home overlooking the hills and the city.

In the video, Fonda says, “Richard and I must have looked at more than 30 houses, and the day we pulled in through the gate … I took one look at this house and I knew. I just knew! … This was a place where we could live very happily.”

Fonda also reminisces about a spectacular party held in the spacious home. “We had my 75th birthday party here. We had a hundred people, could have had another hundred and fifty,” says Fonda.

Listing agents Jade Mills and Valerie Fitzgerald of Coldwell Banker Previews remember that event.

“The house is perfect for entertaining,” says Mills. “They transformed it from a cold, modern white box into a beautiful contemporary home that’s very warm and inviting.”

“It’s also ideal for private entertaining,” adds Fitzgerald, adding that it’s gated and sits back from the street, which isn’t common in the Trousdale Estates section of Beverly Hills. There are several entertaining areas in the back of the house that have gorgeous views, but they remain extremely private because there are no structures on the other sides of the canyons from which paparazzi can snoop and snap.

Both agents agree Fonda’s favorite features are the spacious master bath and a closet that is bigger than most people’s living rooms.

“When I saw the woman’s bathroom … If I hadn’t already been sold on the house, that would have done it,” Fonda says. “And then the closet! This is the first time in my 79 years that I can walk in and see everything that I have!”

Another eye-catching feature? The elevator, according to the listing agents. As Fonda herself says, “There is this amazing glass elevator. I mean it’s like a gem.”

Other fabulous features include a gym, a media room with a full bar and cork floors, a chef’s kitchen with verde quartz countertops and a center island, a solar-heated pool, three fire features outside, and a meditation garden with a fountain. Plus the property is eco-conscious, with photovoltaic electric panels, thermal glass windows with motorized shades, and bamboo floors.

So, if this estate is such a paradise, why in heaven’s name would Fonda want to leave?

“They’re ready for a different lifestyle,” says Mills. “It’s a very large property—the lot is 36,000 square feet.” But she says one thing is certain: Fonda and Perry will be staying in the vicinity.

Of course it’s in their best interest not to stray too far: Fonda is currently starring in the acclaimed Netflix series “Grace and Frankie,” along with Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, and  Martin Sheen.

“Whoever ends up with it,” Fonda says of her house, “I hope you love it as much as we have.”
