You can now rent Kevin Costner’s Aspen, CO, compound for your next vacation. Located a short distance from downtown, the secluded 160-acre ranch is available to rent for the first time.
The “Field of Dreams” star has owned the gated property—called Independence Estate—for about 17 years, says listing agent Amy Mottier, who’s with Coldwell Banker Mason Morse-Aspen. In fact, the actor was married on the property. And if you desire to pledge your undying love on the hallowed grounds, you can get hitched here as well.
A weeklong stay at the three homes, which accommodate up to 34 people, and the wedding day plus planned activities throughout the week will cost $250,000, plus tax and service fee. But you’d better act fast, because county regulations permit only three events at the property per year.

If you want to bring a smaller group for a fun getaway, you can rent the compound for $30,000 per night, plus tax and service fee.
The property backs up on the Continental Divide, comes with a private lake, and offers views of Independence Pass, the North Star Nature Preserve, and Aspen Mountain. Caretakers are on the premises and included in the rate. The location is so secluded and secure that world leaders have visited and corporate events have been held there.
“The whole property is magical and tranquil with an exciting energy that is hard to explain without visiting,” Mottier says. “You feel like you are somewhere far away, yet you are a 10-minute drive from Aspen. The backdrops are stunning and the activities are endless.”
The available properties include a main house with rustic interiors, six bedrooms, and 6.5 baths; it can accommodate 16 guests. The master suite has private stairs to a gorgeous outdoor hot tub A remodeled lake house with vaulted ceilings and lake views is the original home on the property and can sleep 12.
There’s a small three-bedroom river house to wrap up the offerings. All three homes have kitchens, living rooms, and major views. While these three homes are available for lease, there are actually six homes on the property. Costner continues to use the property as well.
While you may not be able to dance with wolves during your stay, you can arrange for dog sledding, yoga, or a visit from a masseuse. In the winter, you can grab an inner tube to go sledding. In the warmer months, you can paddleboard or kayak at the lake, fish, ride horses, or simply take a stroll. Or you can play ball. Because, of course, there’s a baseball field on this lush, dreamy property.
