“House Party” is realtor.com’s official podcast about the overlapping worlds of real estate and pop culture hosted by Natalie Way, Erik Gunther, and Rachel Stults. Click the player above to hear our takes on this week’s hot topics.
Have you ever walked into a friend’s house and immediately picked up on a funky smell? “How do they not smell that?” you ask yourself. Chances are they’ve gone “noseblind” to the unsettling odor, and if you hang out inside their house long enough, you probably will, too.
Losing the ability to tell if your house stinks is pretty embarrassing for those of us who like to throw parties and host guests. That’s why we decided to broach the subject this week on “House Party.” How can you determine if your house smells? Listen to find out!
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it seemed like a good time to discuss the facets of our homes that we adore. House love is a thing, too! Whether it’s something noticeable (Erik loves his atrium) or something small (the stellar water pressure in Rachel’s shower is the thing she’d miss the most if she ever moved), we hope our talk inspires you to reflect on the amenities in your house that bring you joy.
Speaking of homes with swoon-worthy interiors, we couldn’t get over the designs of two unique homes that had both been converted from their original structures: an old firehouse in Chicago and a vintage train station in Hinsdale, NH. The former is a modernized gem with jaw-dropping architecture, and the latter is an adorable locomotive that was refurbished to its former glory.
We also took a peek at the newly redecorated homes of Kylie Jenner and her mom, Kris. No matter how you feel about the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” stars, we dare you to not drool over the interior decor of their pristine Southern California homes. Are we Kardashian-Jenner fans? Nope. But did we appreciate the decor choices they made? Surprisingly, yes! Put on your headphones and click that play button in the player above to hear why.
