There will soon be two fewer hipsters in Brooklyn if married actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have their way. They’ve placed their four-story limestone townhouse in Park Slope on the market for a healthy $8 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
If it seems like just yesterday that they bought it, that’s close. The couple purchased the 5,200-square-foot home early last year for $6 million. They then extensively remodeled the place, which was originally built in 1899. It now has seven bedrooms and 3.5 baths, with 20 rooms total.
“The house is so special—someone who can spend every night there should have it,” Krasinski told the Journal.

He and Blunt have been traveling so much for work that they’re not able to spend as much time there as they’d like. The couple, whose daughters (Hazel, 3, and Violet, 1) travel with them, hate to see the recently renovated house sitting empty most of the time.
Why is this townhouse so special? Well, the remodel was impeccable in keeping with its original French Renaissance Revival style. The townhouse, located next to Prospect Park, has artisan-quality crown moldings and millwork throughout. Leaded glass windows and cabinet doors, bay windows, pocket doors, built-in bookshelves, wood-burning and gas fireplaces, and detailed inlaid floors are but a few of the home’s finer features.

The kitchens and baths have the latest fixtures and appliances that seamlessly blend with the home’s historic style. Illuminated by floor-to-ceiling windows, sliding glass doors, and a skylight, the kitchen has a six-burner Wolf range, custom cabinetry, and an island with a Rohl porcelain sink.

The master bath also has a skylight, along with brass Waterworks fixtures. It’s part of a master suite that includes a study, walk-in closet, two fireplaces, and second-story terrace.

There are four additional bedrooms on the top floor, and the garden level features a guest suite, family room with exposed ceiling beams, and laundry room.

So what’s keeping this busy couple away from this oasis in the city? Blunt, the star of “The Girl on the Train,” “Looper,” and “The Young Victoria,” is filming the starring role in the new Disney movie “Mary Poppins Returns.”
Krasinski, probably best known for his role in the TV comedy “The Office,” is currently directing “A Quiet Place,” a thriller-horror film that he stars in with Blunt.
