If at first you don’t sell at $65 million, try a $10 million price cut and list again. This week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com® is a full-floor, 13-room apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. It’s priced at $55 million, after a $10 million reduction by the homeowner, socialite Shafi Roepers.
The stunning apartment was initially listed two years ago, according to the Real Deal. Roepers also switched brokers, and the listing agent is now John Burger of Brown Harris Stevens.
Located in a “coveted” J.E.R. Carpenter-designed building on Fifth Avenue and East 66th Street, the third-floor apartment offers four beds and eight bathrooms.

You reach the home by private elevator, then enter a 37-foot-long gallery. The “baronial” entertaining rooms have 12-foot ceilings, and the living room and adjoining library each feature herringbone-patterned floors and Central Park views. There’s also a “grand scale” dining room, Juliet balconies, plus a den.
The pristine kitchen features marble counters, multiple workspaces, a banquet, and large pantry, along with two Viking refrigerators and two dishwashers.
A separate wing comprises four bedrooms with bathrooms en suite. The master bedroom has a wood-burning fireplace, two master baths, two dressing rooms, and an adjacent sitting room.
The circa 1920s apartment building is pet-friendly and offers white-glove service, additional private storage, and an emergency generator.
Roepers wasn’t the only homeowner to chop the price on a prized property this week. Tommy Hilfiger’s glamorous duplex penthouse at the Plaza Hotel was also reduced by $8.9 million; the new $50 million price is a little more accessible than the $80 million he sought in 2013.
With summer over, and prices cooling off a bit, buyers just might be tempted to take another look at these luxe listings.
