Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry listed his 7,500-square-foot mansion in Walnut Creek, CA, for $3.7 million, after purchasing the home last year for $3.2 million.
Curry and his wife, Ayesha, recently purchased a 10,290-square-foot mansion in the nearby town of Alamo for $5.7 million.
The couple bought the home in Walnut Creek last November, just a few months after Curry led his team to victory in the 2015 NBA Finals. They updated the home and renovated the kitchen, swapping out dark backsplash tiles for white tiles, a stainless steel range for a La Cornue range, brown cabinets for white cabinets with gold hardware, and dark granite countertops for white stone.
The kitchen looks TV-ready, and for good reason: Ayesha Curry is a celebrity chef whose Food Network show, “Ayesha’s Homemade,” regularly featured shots of her cooking inside the home.
The rest of the house is equally impressive. The Mediterranean-style mansion was built in 2006 and has five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two half-baths on a nearly 1-acre lot with sweeping views of Mount Diablo. It’s a short drive away from hiking trails at Sugarloaf Open Space and the Diablo Foothills Regional Park.
The home’s generous master bedroom includes a sitting area, balcony, large picture windows, white stone bathroom with steam shower, and BainUltra therapeutic tub, in case you need to recuperate after scoring 40+ points on the court.
The home’s lower level, open-concept lounge has room for a pool table, wet bar, and a wine cellar so large it has its own library-style rolling ladder. The separate guesthouse features a full kitchen, a private entrance, and its own garage.
Curry’s $3.7 million asking price is the most expensive single-family home for sale in Walnut Creek, with the next closest listing being a $2.5 million, 5,600-square-foot mansion on the other side of Diablo Foothills Regional Park.
Curry is undoubtedly at the top of the sport, having been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2015 and 2016, leading his team to the finals both years. He’s made the NBA All-Star team for three consecutive years.
He’s currently wrapping up a four-year, $44 million contract, which ESPN believes could balloon to a $165 million, five-year deal in 2017. If Curry snags that number, it’ll be the largest NBA contract in history.
