NASCAR legend Bill Elliott holds the fastest qualifying time in both Talladega and Daytona history. His qualifying speed at Talladega of 212.8 mph in 1987 remains the fastest recorded mph in NASCAR history.
Elliott held another title until January 2017: He had the largest house in his neighborhood. However, his grip on that title was broken when he sold the Ball Ground, GA, home earlier this year for $1.5 million. The home was listed for $1,795,000 in July 2016, which means Elliott sacrificed a little dough to close the deal.
The six-bedroom, six-bath house measures 13,101 square feet and sits on a 4.62-acre lot on the banks of the Etowah River. Ball Ground is on the outer reaches of the Atlanta metro.

The home’s amenities include a chef’s kitchen, breakfast room, formal dining room, living room, media room, sauna, wine cellar, exercise room, and three-car garage.
The exterior of the home is wood and stone, which helps it blend with its wooded surroundings.

Elliott, who’s retired, won NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award a record 16 times. He took his sport’s biggest prize, the Daytona 500, in 1985 and 1987.
Although the new owner of Elliott’s former manse won’t be NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver, perhaps he or she can strive to be Ball Ground’s most popular resident.
