Kim Kardashian and Kanye West aren’t exactly known for their, ahem, subtlety. So it’s only fitting that their $20 million megamansion will “rival” the extravagance of Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch when their two years of extensive renovations are complete, according to E! News.
They are expected to finally move into their lavish abode in the celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills in a few months, a Los Angeles real estate source told E! News. That should give the social media queen and her feud-starting hubby a break from living on and off with Kardashian’s momager, Kris Jenner (though Jenner still lives nearby).
For starters, their stylish children North West and Saint West will have a two-story playroom in which to toddle around, according to E! News. There will also be a full-size movie theater (for screening back episodes of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” of course), gym, and basketball court.
The updated property will also include every reality TV star’s dream: a hair salon for those daily blowouts and last-minute touch-ups. There will also be a spa complete with facial and massage rooms.
As unusual as an in-home hair salon sounds, they’re popular with celebrities, says luxury real estate agent Dolly Lenz, who is based in New York City. It saves entertainers a trip to the beauty parlor by providing their stylists with everything they need to make their stars ready for the red carpet.
“I have had quite a few people [put in and upgrade existing] hair salons,” she says.
Kardashian and West are also reportedly building a lake-size pool in the backyard. It’s about five times larger than any other swimming holes in their community.
And Yeezy will get his own recording studio.
“When it’s done, it will be amazing,” Kardashian told E! News last year of the 5-acre compound. “We have to redo my closet, the bathroom, the kitchen.”
But it’s not as if the seven-bedroom, 13-bathroom estate was in bad shape when they bought it for $19.75 million in August. It came with two swimming pools, a fountain, and a vineyard.
However, the 3.5-acre property wasn’t big enough for them, so they purchased the neighbor’s $2.9 million home next year to expand.
No matter the condition of the property, undergoing a massive remodel to personalize a new home is standard in the luxury real estate world—particularly for celebrities accustomed to getting whatever they want, says Lenz.
“They want it their way,” she says. But it doesn’t come cheap.
Lenz, who was not involved in the sale or the remodel, expects the renovation is costing the couple more than $10 million. Remember, this includes a two-floor children’s area.
“That’s probably a little over the top,” Lenz says. “Do they need a two-story playroom? I don’t know.”
