Comedian Russell Peters rakes in millions of dollars doing stand-up around the world. Despite his fame and fortune, he hasn’t crossed over to massive popularity—a 2014 Forbes article dubbed the comic “notoriously unknown.”
With his own Netflix special on the way, perhaps his recognition factor will rise. For now, the internationally popular Canadian comic spends his downtime in the States. We’ll surmise he’s shuffling his properties with a purpose in mind, because the 45-year-old is selling two multimillion-dollar mansions in California, both of which he has remodeled.
The first one up for grabs is a $2.8 million, 5,857-square-foot contemporary with a Mediterranean influence in Studio City. After buying the five-bedroom home for $1.96 millionin 2009, Peters went to work on a remodel.
Fully redone, the home now has a chef’s kitchen with natural stone, a media room, six bathrooms, and a four-car parking garage with a motor court that can hold 10 cars. Listing agent Scott Walker says the funnyman’s remodeling efforts got the most comments among aspects of the property’s “amazing contemporary look.”

Peters’ next listing is a very large house in Malibu—a 10,000-square-foot, nine-bedroom, nine-bathroom modern mansion—which he also remodeled, in 2015. Listed for just a shade under $12 million, this home is evidence of the comedian’s massive moneymaking operation.
He’s selling the manse after purchasing it just two years ago, around the same time he had a practically unnoticed cameo in the critically acclaimed movie “Chef.” This mansion, offered by Rodeo Realty, features a chef’s kitchen, grand central staircase, 10-person home theater, restaurant-style wet bar, pool, master bathroom, and space for over 15 cars behind a security gate.
Being unknown has its perks.
