This week, we witnessed a profusion of exorbitantly priced Los Angeles–area properties hit the market. Four of the five priciest new listings are in a tight little radius between Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills. Way to go, SoCal!
But wait just a minute! Cali was denied a full sweep this week by a charming little starter home ensconced in the town of Wellington in South Florida. Well, perhaps $45 million might be pushing the definition of a starter home, even for some of the big-name residents of this equine-minded town, including Bill Gates, Bruce Springsteen, and Michael Bloomberg.
The lucky buyer of this week’s most expensive new listing will be able to gallop right alongside those heavy hitters. Fun!
And that’s because this sprawling home, known as Skara Glen, is promoted as a horse compound, and offers too many horse-related amenities to tally. Suffice it to say, there are custom chandeliers in the well-appointed barn. In fact, you’ll need more than a horseshoe in your back pocket to be lucky enough to land this extraordinary estate.
As we mentioned above, the other four pricey properties are sizzling in Southern California. You’ll find a couple of familiar properties bouncing back onto the market with price cuts. One of them is a home in Holmby Hills being marketed as a teardown. The other two are a spacious estate overlooking the Los Angeles Country Club and a Beverly Hills mansion once featured in a documentary called “Tales of a Trophy Wife.”
For the full rundown of this week’s trophy-worthy homes, simply scroll down.
1. 4715 125th Ave S, Wellington, FLPrice: $45,000,000 ($6,450 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Yes, it bears repeating—Skara Glen is more than a home. It is an equestrian compound. Located in the heart of the equine-centric community of Wellington, this 21-acre spread has everything a buyer will need to keep his or her beloved horses happy. There are two barns: the 18 luxury stalls in the Grand Prix barn are outfitted with chandeliers, gorgeous woodwork, and vaulted ceilings—accommodations many two-legged folks would eagerly saddle up for. Do we even need to mention the main house?

Luxe factor: This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this luxurious mansion. It appeared on our radar in March, when it hit the market for $34 million. Back with a fresh new listing and a $4 million price cut, this estate is still looking for a buyer who needs 16 bathrooms.
