Casa Ladera in Pebble Beach Offers Decor and Views in a Single Spectacular Package

A glorious Spanish-style estate in Pebble Beach, CA, is now on the market for $16.5 million. The storied home boasts a presidential visitor, beach views, and a major makeover that landed it a spot in Architectural Digest.

Perched on a hilltop, Casa Ladera sits on a 3.4-acre lot that’s located near the Lodge and is just a short walk to Carmel Beach.

A previous homeowner hired designer Juan Pablo Molyneux to reimagine the interiors, with the result featured in Architectural Digest. Much of the decor and furnishings remain.

The current homeowner “loved all the details and bought it furnished,” says listing agent Jessica Canning, of Canning Properties Group. “The house is very much in line with how it looked” in the magazine.

Lavish details and layers of texture, prints, and color bathe each room. In the living room, the beamed ceiling has been antiqued and hand-stenciling adorns the walls. In the dining room, the main focus is the hand-painted, tiled mural of the bay.

Despite the over-the-top details inside the home, the setting truly takes the cake. Arched windows in a breezeway frame views of the beach and surrounding area.

The 10,000-square-foot home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and two half-baths. There are two master suites, a library and office, a kitchen with granite counters and breakfast nook, a media room, wine cellar, and gym.

Outside, you’ll find multiple patios, a loggia, pool, huge lawn, barbecue area, and space for dining. A guesthouse with ocean views also comes with the property. According to the agent, an oversize hot tub on the property is made entirely of one piece of copper.

The current owner purchased the property in 2016 for $13.5 million, and is selling now to move closer to family. The home can be bought with the furnishings, a trend that is popular with second-home buyers, says Canning.

For golfers who’d prefer to focus on the links and not the drapes, a furnished turnkey estate is an ideal solution.

Rumor has it that President Gerald Ford, a golf fanatic, was a regular visitor and that a secure telephone line was added to the home—but it’s since been removed.

You don’t have to be the leader of the free world to enjoy the home; you just need deep pockets.

Canning says quite simply, “It takes your breath away, there’s no doubt about it.”
