The saying goes, you should try walking a mile in another man’s shoes. Now you can also live in his house. Shoe designer Vince Camuto’s opulent Greenwich, CT, estate is on the market for a whopping $25 million. David Ogilvy is the listing agent.

Camuto was known for his eponymous line of shoes and had co-founded footwear company Nine West. He purchased this crumbling dwelling in the 1980s, when he decided to move to the country from New York. The fashion mogul, who died in 2015 at the age of 78, viewed the falling-down mansion as a “diamond in the rough.”

Indeed, decades later, the mansion is now a gleaming gem. Known as Ream Chateau, the ornate 16,000-square-foot home has 11 bedrooms, 14 baths, and seven half-baths.

The home itself is decorated with a designer’s eye. Camuto called himself a “frustrated architect and historian,” and indeed each room is full of eye-popping detail. There’s the great room with a 20-foot ceiling and fiberoptic stars. The library features antique paneling, and the beamed center great hall is 91 feet long.

There’s also a “sumptuous” master suite that includes a dressing room and an oval sitting room. A third-floor suite includes a gym and steam room.

There’s plenty more to enjoy on this 4.6-acre spread. Along with a courtyard with pergola, there are gardens, a pool and spa with grotto, a pool house, a tennis house, and a two-bedroom guesthouse.

The mansion adjoins a 14-acre land trust, and an additional 23 acres are available for sale separately.

Ironically, this shoe chateau fit for royal feet was built by the master of making affordable footwear with mass appeal. Camuto also partnered with other labels such as BCBG, Banana Republic, and Tory Burch. He sold the Nine West Group to Jones Apparel Group for almost $900 million before launching his eponymous line.
