Latin pop star Shakira is shaking her hips out of her immaculate six-bedroom mansion in Miami Beach, FL. She had picked up the property for $3.3 million in 2001, just before her first English-language single, “Whenever, Wherever,” hit the U.S. airwaves. The 1950s-era mansion is now on the market for $11.6 million.
Seventeen years later, Shakira is known the world over, with a string of music awards and best-selling albums. Her house in Florida underwent a similarly dramatic transformation, from top to bottom. Located on a half-acre lot on Biscayne Bay with a private dock, the 8,700-square-foot home is a short drive from the Atlantic Ocean and the white sands of Miami Beach.
The house is bright and white, with a minimalist, contemporary aesthetic. Double doors open to the dining room, and a large window looks out onto the backyard and pool.

The living room has a modern fireplace, with a silver-framed mirror hanging above it. Three sets of French doors open to the backyard. Shakira commissioned custom furniture in this room, which looks symmetrical from virtually every angle.

The kitchen is sleek and spare, with gleaming white, European-style cabinets, a double wine fridge, and top-of-the-line appliances.

The entertainment room features nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, with views of the backyard and Biscayne Bay. Shakira outfitted a bay window with a blue and white couch and hookah. The room includes an all-white pool table, and comfy couch for watching movies.

Elsewhere, there’s a home gym, home office, pool with a wooden deck and cabana, and two-car garage.

Shakira previously tried to sell this home: She listed it in mid-2013 for $14.95 million, later trimming the price by $2 million. It’s been on and off the market ever since, at one point listing for $13.9 million.
This time she’s selling the house with the help of her half-brother, Douglas Elliman agent Antonio Mebarak. She and her partner, pro soccer player Gerard Piqué, own several homes and spend most of their time in Spain.
