We get it. The owner of the Boston Red Sox requires a nice retreat in a warmer climate, for when New England winters take a particularly brutal turn.

But John Henry‘s place in Boca Raton, FL, is far more than a nice retreat. It’s a full-on luxe resort, built as his family’s primary residence. Now he’s willing to let the whole thing go for $25 million.

The 6.3-acre property is situated next to a lake and surrounded by water on three sides. It’s part of the 200-acre community known as Le Lac, about five miles from the center of Boca Raton.

Of course, an estate of this magnitude comes with its own name. The property is known as Tashun, which means “The House of Peace.” The custom-built home was inspired by Japanese design, which is apparent in the clean lines, open spaces, and temple-inspired architecture.

Henry bought the site in 1991 for $850,000, and completed the estate in 1995.

The 27,832-square-foot residence has seven bedrooms and a whopping 19 baths. Including terraces, verandas, and a separate guest facility, there’s a total of 41,000 square feet of living space.

Luxury amenities include a state-of-the-art recording studio, an indoor-outdoor pizza room with dining area, and a cinema with a concession stand.

There’s also a wine cellar that can hold 1,000 bottles. A special generator ensures the temperature remains at 53 degrees in case of a temporary power outage.

Since Henry is so involved in pro sports (he also owns the Liverpool Football Club and is co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing), it makes sense he’d have an unparalleled man cave. The area includes a sports bar, seating area for watching games, and plenty of room for the display of sports memorabilia.

Other extraordinary rooms include the sunset room, which is octagonal in shape with floor-to-ceiling windows. And the generous great room features ceiling heights of 40 feet.

Outdoors there are acres of manicured lawns, some leading right up to the water. There’s also a tennis court and glistening pool.

Henry, 69, began his professional life in finance, and eventually established his own firm, John W. Henry & Co., which would go on to become one of the largest commodity brokerage firms in the U.S., with an office in Boca Raton.

Senada Adzem of Douglas Elliman Real Estate is the listing agent.
