Actress Mindy Kaling Sells Another Charming Home in Los Angeles

Actress and comedian Mindy Kaling has been busy. She’s currently in cinemas as Mrs. Who in the fantasy film “A Wrinkle in Time”; she’s producing “Champions,” a new sitcom on NBC; and she just sold another home in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times. The charming Spanish-style abode in Beverly Grove went for $1,955,000.

“The Mindy Project” creator had initially listed the four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence for $2.2 million. But she still comes out ahead on the home, which she bought in 2007 for $1,575,000, according to property records.

Built in 1929, the 2,674-square-foot home features vintage details such as arched doorways, hardwood flooring, intricate beamed ceilings, and wrought-iron fixtures.

The living room has a central fireplace and multiple french windows. The adjacent family room also boasts a fireplace, and the dramatic banquet dining room includes a barrel ceiling. The updated kitchen has tile flooring, granite counters, and a large island. In the backyard, a converted garage with french doors is now used as a gym.

The home is in walking distance to the Grove shopping area, plus the lively shopping and dining scene on 3rd Street. Yes, people sometimes do walk in L.A.

The multitalented 38-year-old had recently been on a real estate selling spree. She found a buyer for her Hollywood Hills home for $1.61 million last summer. She had purchased the place in 2013 for $1.7 million, so she absorbed a small loss.

This doesn’t leave the star without housing: She moved into a larger home in Hancock Park, and set about redecorating it. The results made headlines. The Cambridge, MA, native told Architectural Digest, “it’s an East Coast–style home.”

Kaling also owns a swanky condo in New York City. The funny lady will appear this summer in the upcoming “Ocean’s 8.”
