New U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman is serious about selling his mansion in McLean, VA. The red brick estate, which came on the market last year at $4.2 million, recently had its price reduced to $3.6 million, says listing agent Lilian Jorgenson of Long & Foster in McLean.
“It’s just gorgeous,” says Jorgenson of the mansion, which had about $1 million in upgrades over the past couple of years. “It’s got all-new bathrooms, kitchen, landscaping, and window treatments.”
The seven-bedroom, five-bath home sits on a half-acre lot down the street from the CIA headquarters, the biggest tourist attraction in McLean. Built in 1985, the 8,852-square-foot home features a mahogany-paneled library, huge master suite, backyard pool, and outdoor kitchen.
Huntsman, a former Utah governor and a 2012 Republican presidential hopeful, bought the property for $3.1 million in 2014 from U.S. Sen Fred Thompson, who was a GOP presidential contender in 2008.

The house is located in the Ballantrae Farm neighborhood in the Washington, DC, suburb. Nearby is the famous McLean Family Restaurant, which attracts CIA agents and politicos such as former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
Huntsman is currently in Russia, Jorgenson says. “He’ll be received by [Russian President Vladimir] Putin on Tuesday, then is coming back on Friday to pack up.”
