Dr. Ben Carson, current adviser to Donald Trump and former Republican presidential candidate, has shelled out $4.4 million for a mansion in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The luxury home was previously in foreclosure, according to The Real Deal.
The retired pediatric surgeon, dubbed “Gentle Ben” during his primary race, bought the 8,782-square-foot house in June from an investment company that picked up the property out of foreclosure in early 2015.
The home re-emerged on the market in December for $5.4 million, before a couple of price cuts reduced the list price to $5 million in May. The former model home was also on the market last year as a luxury rental for $23,000 a month.
And it appears that the good doctor may have bagged a bargain. Homes on the same street that are currently on the market are listed at a number of prodigious price points, including $11.5 million, $9 million, and $6.75 million.

Carson’s Tuscan-style home, which is a mere 18 miles away from Trump’s famed Mar-a-Largo estate, contains six bedrooms and six bathrooms. It features a palm tree–lined driveway, a chef’s kitchen with white and cherry cabinets, a great room with coffered ceiling, and outdoor entertainment and cooking spaces.
The estate sits on 1.1 tropical acres and looks out onto the 15th green of the Old Palm Golf Club. It’s now part of a Carson real estate portfolio that, according to Variety, includes a 6,000-square-foot home in West Palm Beach and a 47.75-acre estate in rural Maryland near Johns Hopkins Hospital, where Carson was head of pediatric surgery.
